Tough with the Kids?

I still remember this teacher of mine when I was in P6 - Mrs Lee

I was in the last class back then ~ 6D so in terms of the current standard you can say that I was from an EM3 class.. Hahaha.. It's true
She was very strict with us and most of us were very scared of her.. She made discipline one of her top priority for the class.
These were the things that would made our books either fly out of the window (1 time for me) or being torn to pieces (none):
(1) Shoddy Work
(2) Untidy Handwriting
(3) Incomplete Work

Our classroom was one of the cleanest around cause if it's dirty we were made to clean the classroom during lesson time and scrub it clean.. Therefore every week, the group in-charge will come to skool at around 630 to clean it up..
If there's homework, we would gathered at our favourite bench at 640-645 to make sure that we had completed it and do it well..
And we have a very pecular classroom sitting arrangement.. Every other week we are not sitting at that same particular spot... It's hard in fact to keep track where I should sit every week but somehow just survived the year lah.. In fact all of us.. Hahaha

I just wanna say that it was in P6 that shape my life the way I am.. It's because of her very strict regimen, I have one of the neatest handwriting around. In fact all of my classmates from that particular P6D have lovely handwriting thks in no part to one particular teacher Mrs Lee..

But I guess this method would not work anymore in the current context. Imagine if these were to happen now.. Can't imagine the consequences....
Kids nowadays... Too protective?

Blogging Restricted for Teachers?

I read with interest an article published in The Sunday Times about teachers blogging... It is quite sad if teachers are being monitored on the net for what they had blogged. But to a certain extend, what the article had mentioned is quite true too...
Being a teacher is like a mini-celebrity (Except that we do not command a 5-digit salary and endorsement), in the sense that for every little mistake u make, the next day headline is about you and you only...
If you have alreadi identify yourself as a teacher in the blog, then I guess there is a certain kind of restraining order that you have to make for yourself..Just follow the below mentioned and you are safe...

Certain donts:-
(1) Posting of your sex life (Photos included even if it is so sex-citing)
(2) Bad-mouthing of your skool or even your students
(3) Unflatering photos of yourself in case it is being circulated around in class

Anything more to add in to this list?
I dont have an interesting life, so I know for sure I wont be monitored lah... Hahaha...

Return of the 615....

NATAS 06
Went down to Suntec for the NATAS show... There isn't any really good deals around and surprisingly the place is not that packed with people. Meet darling Jess there and no we are not going for our holidays together! She's going to Taipei....
I decided to go to Australia instead... Actually had wanted to go to Turkey but due to the long travelling time and with a kid in tow, there is a change in plan.. Maybe next time can go Turkey..
So it's more or less confirmed, Australia is my next destination for the month of June (Flying by Emirates)
For Dec, Enid have made a pre-advanced booking for me!!! Hahaha.. We decided to go Taiwan... Interesting huh my life? Next year June, Shahrin alreadi asked me to go Australia... Wah.... So many people pre-booked me liao...

Cell 615 - The Reunion

After the NATAS, went down to Katong to meet up with my Cell Mates...
Went there to celebrate Siang Ping's bday... It's his 30th Bday!!! Whahahaha
Wanted him to act cute in the photo so that at least he will look yunger but then he cannot make it lah...
So in the end, we taupok him lah... Yah.. Taupok outdoors in front of everybody, passer-by..
We dont care.. After all, we alreadi have a criminal record in Cell 615...
Hehehe...
Happi Bday my brokeback buddy!!!

Hand Foot and Mouth Disease.....

There's an outbreak of this disease among the children in S'pore although it does not warrant any panic among the schools here. Just that we have to take some extra precautions in the assembly hall before they go to their class. Means we have to check their hands for any rashes just right after the morning assembly. It's not tat tedious lah as compare to the SARs day where we have to take practically everyone temperature.. Tat was a tedious process..

If teachers have rashes on their hand, can we be excused for the day too? Whahaha

Spare the rod spoilt the child??

I guess this saying is really true in S'pore school context... Rarely have we heard about schools doing their corporal punishment anymore..
Nowadays is more like counselling session, peer mediator talk, etc... Meaning talk and talk but nothing goes right into the brain of the child...

Gone are the days where the one whack on the pupils' hand will wake that fellow up.. No more..
Nowadays must give our best customer service.. Parents have become our customer instead.. Must please them... Ai yoh... A little bit complain to the MP lah... Papers lah... The whole world...
How can teachers do their work you tell me?

PS: Just some personal tots while doing my lessons... Hehehe... Nothing happen to me in skl.. I am still well-liked by my pupils don't worry... :p

Sakura....

Finally, after so long the appreciation dinner was finally held at Sakura @ Omni Theatre.. Tat is the toughest part being in the Comm.. I rather chair another round of FOC than to coordinate another appreciation dinner!!!
Although the response was not that overwhelming (Free leh!!!) total of 30 of us went down, at least there is some kind of dinner that was held for them.. And we have to thks the rest who couldn't make it due to other committments, everyone was fully subsidized!! Yeah

Movie

After that we went to watch Dorm!!
It's a nice touching movie unlike the typical scary one that you would expect from a Thai horror film. So if you are expecting something like Shutter or The Eye, forget it.. (Some ppl just don't appreciate it.. Sighh)
For a horrow movie: 2 stars out of 5
For a normal movie: 4 stars out of 5

And yah, the movie invokes back past memories from 2 years ago.. Cause the lead actor is the one from the movie 'My Girl' (I love this movie though but just tat....)
Without elaborating much, I just hope that you are happy and well settle down in your job... We are still the best of friends even if we cant be together...

There's another movie that I watched with Colin and Bong last Sun.. It's called Takeshis (Japanese Movie)

Here's the conversation between the ABC Boyzzz (Addy, Bong and Colin).. Hahaha

At 1pm:
Colin: Eh handsomes, wanna watch this movie or not? I tink it's not bad
Addy: Anything lah.. Now is my one week break.. Quite free.. Wat time show?
Bong: I very lazy to go.. Got my formula 1, soccer...
Addy: Ignore him lah...
Colin: 2.50pm
Addy: Ok ok... Meet you guys there

After the movie:
Colin, Bong n Addy: WTF!!!

And yah.. for me the review for this movie will still be WTF even after reading the sypnosis trying to get hold wat the hell the movie is all about... If I wanna see some naked Jap gal's breast I would have watch some porn instead of wasting my money..

Ratings: 1/2 out of 5 stars (Even the breast cant save this movie)

Settling Down...

Went to Settler's Cafe with my NIE Gang on Thurs.. Just to catch up with each other and de-stress. Everyone agreed on not playing any games that uses the brain extensively simply just play games that are nonsense can alreadi... Whahhaa..
I guess all the teacher's brain in the cafe are all used up during the last 4 weeks!!!
But too bad next time we can't go on Thurs (It's cheap lah) cause Fri is still a teaching day.. Sianzz...
But its ok lah.. Next time got spending power

Reminds me of maths manipulative!!

One Week Break

A well deserved one week break...
I guess tis is the one and only one week break that I will not have to go back to skl and bother about marking books, having meeting, etc... Better treasure tis....

4 weeks of teaching had gone.. Everything just whizzed by like there's no tomorrow... In fact too fast for my liking.. So far so good.. The skl that I am posted to is wonderful although I couldnt say the same about the kids though.. Management is great and the Cooperating Teacher (CT) that I am attached too is just great. Although she is the No. 3 in the skl, there's no airs about her. For my first observation under her, she was very generous with her grades and complimented me with my teaching style. But the same cannot be said about my NIE Supervisor.. Same class being observed but different comments. Oh well.. You just can't satisfy both parties... As long as I know that I have taught the kids well, that's wat matters the most...
And I have my CT backing... So who cares about my sup... And just too bad, he pissed off my CT.. To make my CT pissed off really says something about the person's character.. Whahaha...
She is just so cool to 'suan' him indirectly in her report about my teaching observation... Yeah... Way to go!!!

It's soarching hot!!!

It has been a scorching hot week literally.. The only relieve I got was when I step into the teacher's room and stay in there for as long as possible till it's time for lessons.. Hahaha...
Cause last week I took some PE classes... Sweating man

3rd March
Went to Jubilee Hall to support my dear Yong Han for his String Orchestra "Journey 2006" concert. But before that had dinner with darling Jess @ City Hall...

4th March

Went for some kayaking expedition with my ODAC frens and I am burnt literally. My face is so damn black lah after e kayaking thing.. Next time must put sunblock man.. What i wanted was just a tan not a black face.. Hahaha...

5th March
Caught Army Daze @ Drama Centre ... Its e new edited version that was played way way back in the 90s and it even made into a movie... Its was not tat bad although I prefer Hossan Leong's Chestnut...
Jamie Yeo and Glenn was sitting behind us and that kuku Bong mentioned after the show, that girl in purple is a babe... Everyone was stunned as we all know she is Jamie Yeo except for Bong... Whahaha...
Once a kuku always one .. That applies for you Bong....

Where to stay??

3 weeks. That's how long I have been staying at my house other than last year during the same period while I was having my praticum. Somehow I just don't feel comfortable. It feels weird after staying away for quite some time to go back home with someone nagging at you... Most of my stuff is back in Hall but I am debating whether to move them all back home cause I still have this little constant feeling kinda bugging me to find a place to stay outside..
It's time for me to find a place to call my own... I tink I will feel happy having a place of my own no matter how hard life is.....
Any place to recommend? Or maybe I should wait for my official school posting first before deciding?

Dinner Appointments

Been attending 2 dinner appointments for the past 2 nite which die die I must not missed at all cost..

27th Feb
Tis one is with my Central Police frens but its only the four of us... Its been quite some time we all we met up. All of them no longer in Team Policing and they have already branched out to other departments... First thing that I met them, the bitch started to gossips.. (his usual standard protocol)
Back then, the four of us are one of the strong backbone team in the Operations Room.. Hehehe...
How I miss Police Life... But not the current 12hrs shift!!! I love the old 3 system shift back then...

28th Feb
Tis one is the one that I am really looking forward to. It's time for me to meet up with my Old Primary Skl Mates from Beng Wan Pri (Close down liao... Haha). Actually I am the only one who have been MIA-ing for the past years. Went to meet them at TCC @ Boat Quay and boy was I surprised by how much they have grown up and change.. Tink they were also surprised by how I have changed over the years..
There was a lot of catching up to do and yah.. We all really clicked like the good old times.... If only our skl still exist, we would like to go back there and remember all e childhood activities that we did back then cause apparently this Lijun forgot everything!!! But luckily she remembered who's our form teacher was.. The very fierce one!!!! Whahaha
One set of old primary skl frens found...
Now it's time to search for my secondary skl frens and poly frens which hopefully am able to locate them... Mission On!
